The Colour Palette

Warm colour palettes are making a big return, replacing cool tones with rich, cosy hues like terracotta, mustard, and deep peach. These shades create an inviting atmosphere, perfect for spaces designed to make you feel at home.

Another trending colour is yellow, which is brightening up kitchens with shades from soft buttercream to bold marigold. Deep reds, such as oxblood, are also gaining popularity, offering a dramatic, sultry touch to interiors—think velvet sofas or accent walls.

Chocolate brown, the neutral of the moment, brings earthy, grounding vibes to any space, pairing effortlessly with creamy whites or metallics for a chic and timeless look. Finally, seafoam green offers a cool, calming effect, reminiscent of nature, and adds a peaceful yet fresh feel to your home decor.

Decor Tip: Incorporate these shades with easily swapped-out elements like throw pillows, rugs, or curtains. Layering these colours in different textures creates depth without overwhelming the space. Add a splash of yellow with cabinetry paint, or keep it simple with vibrant accessories like tea towels, ceramic bowls, or pendant lights.

Art Deco Revival

Cue the geometric patterns, brass accents, and sleek finishes—Art Deco is back, and it’s as glamorous as ever. Whether it’s a chic serving tray or a statement light fixture, this trend turns everyday spaces into something extraordinary.

Celebrate the cracks, the rough edges, and the raw beauty of it all. Wabi-Sabi invites us to embrace imperfection and focus on what truly matters—a little simplicity, a lot of soul.

Gracie Yan, founder of Cerani Studio, says "The concept of Wabi-sabi in Japanese culture has significantly influenced the uniqueness of ceramic tableware, where the beauty lies in the 'imperfections' that emerge from craftsmanship. For instance, subtle variations in color or the irregular shapes of petals contribute to a piece's individuality, without compromising its quality. This sense of imperfection means each item is one-of-a-kind, adding a special touch to your home. In this way, Wabi-sabi offers a deeper beauty for homeware, making your living space not only functional but truly unique.

One of my favorite examples of Wabi-sabi is the rustic ceramics created by Shōji Hamada, a renowned Japanese potter. Known for his unglazed surfaces and the unpredictable effects of the kiln, Hamada's work celebrates the natural imperfections of the materials. Similarly, the Japanese art of Ikebana—flower arrangement—embodies Wabi-sabi through its emphasis on asymmetry, simplicity, and the fleeting nature of life. Each arrangement reflects the beauty found in the natural transience of flowers, making it an ever-evolving expression of imperfection."
